Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) is a highly contagious illness caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. First identified in Wuhan, China, in late 2019, it quickly spread globally, leading to an unprecedented pandemic. COVID-19 primarily spreads through respiratory droplets and affects the respiratory system, causing symptoms ranging from mild cough and fever to severe pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Preventive measures include vaccination, wearing masks, hand hygiene, and social distancing. While vaccines have significantly reduced severe cases and deaths, the emergence of new variants necessitates ongoing vigilance and adaptation in public health strategies.
